Duncan Armstrong is a long time resident of the City of Quinte West, a retired Trenton High School teacher and City Councillor in Ward 1 - Trenton since 2014. He is married to his loving wife Cathy, who is well-known as a teacher during her 30 plus years at Murray Centennial Public School.

Together, they have two daughters, Charlotte, a teacher at Murray Centennial, and Amy, a Naturopathic Doctor. He is a proud grandpa to Nora & Fletcher.

Armstrong was raised in a military family, whose father was killed in the line of duty while serving as a member of 424 Search and Rescue. His mother, Ruth Armstrong, a farm girl from Thamesford, Ontario, later made Trenton and Carrying Place home for her family following this tragedy,  Both parents valued community service very highly and it is from them, Armstrong attributes his strong sense of community involvement and duty.

Examples of his "can do" nature was Armstrong’s relentless pursuit of bringing the community together to win the prestigious Kraft Celebration Tour in 2012 resulting in the City of Quinte West being featured on TSN, along with being featured in two commercials that where broadcast on prime-time television during the Stanley Cup Play-offs.

His fundraising efforts with members from the community to raise money to construct the Hugh O'Neil Friendship Garden is another example of Armstrong's ability to not only work with others, but is one that displayed his logistical skills and strengths to lead and collaborate.

The City of Quinte West is well-known as a natural attraction supported by being a great place to work and the right place to do business.  Armstrong wants this image to continue to grow but also wants to go at least one step further by promoting the City of Quinte West as a global destination and continue to be a  great place to be proud of by all generations!

“Living the dream“ is how Armstrong describes his involvement in the life of the City of Quinte West.
